How To Take Care Of Your Skin In Nigeria

In recent times, people have become more interested in taking care of their skin. This has led to the emergence of a range of skincare products and brands, all with the aim of helping people achieve the ‘perfect skin,’ no matter their skin tone.

But taking care of your skin does not only involve using fancy or expensive products. In fact, not all of these products are necessary if you are doing the right thing.

This is why today, we would be looking at tips for taking care of your skin if you live in Nigeria. Here’s how to take care of your skin in nigeria.

Bath Regularly

The first step to taking in having a good skin is by taking your bath regularly. Nigeria is a hot country, which means on an average day, doing a little task would have you sweating.

When that sweat gets dried, it has to be washed off. Otherwise, it could clog your pores. There is also a lot of dust from the road that can get on your skin. This could lead to skin problems over time.

Having your bath regularly would help to wash off the sweat, dust, and dirt that would have gathered on your skin. Ideally, you should bathe in the morning before you begin the day and at night, just before bed. Doing this would allow your skin to breathe and would leave you generally clean.

Be Gentle On Your Skin

While having your bath or washing your face, you should go easy on your skin. Do not use a hard brush or sponge on your skin, as this could irritate it. Use a mild sponge and go soft on your skin. Make sure you also use a soap or cleanser that is gentle as well.

Moisturize Your Skin

You can make it a rule to never leave your house without properly moisturizing your skin. Moisturising should happen immediately after you step out from having your bath, as this would help to lock in the moisture.

If you have dry skin, make sure to use a lotion or cream that is especially hydrating. You should also use a moisturizer that is suited for your skin type.

Avoid moisturizers that would bleach your skin or would drastically alter your skin tone.

In addition, don’t forget to exfoliate your skin often and go for regular facial treatments.

Avoid Going Out In The Sun

Unless it is an emergency, you should avoid walking under the sun. The sun plays a big role in damaging the skin, and it could also cause skin cancer. If you have to go out while the sun is hot, make sure you take an umbrella to provide you with shade.

Stay Hydrated

If you have been looking for a reason to drink more water, you should do it for your skin. Staying hydrated would ensure that your skin is healthy. Remember, it is not until you feel thirsty that you should drink water.

Wear A Sunscreen

Nigeria is such a hot country for anybody to go out without wearing a good sunscreen. Sunscreen protects you from UV rays from the sun, which has been proven to damage skin. Make sure to go for sunscreen with SPF 30 and above.

Manage stress

Stress is very common in Nigeria. Also, when stress is not managed, it can make your skin more sensitive and lead to acne breakouts and other skin problems.

There an essential skincare tip for healthy skin is to take adequate steps to manage your stress.

You can do this by getting enough sleep, avoiding stressful situations by planning ahead, making out time for relaxation, eating well, and exercising.
