Skincare Tips For Hot Weather

When the weather becomes hot, you have to adjust to it. You may have noticed that your skin feels different when the weather is hot compared to when it is cold. When the weather is hot, your skin becomes dryer, as it loses moisture easily. This could affect not just the look but also the feel of the skin. Taking proper care of your skin during hot weather is very important.

Today, we would be looking at some of the skincare tips you can follow for when the weather is hot. Here are some crucial skincare tips for the hot weather.

1. Moisturise Regularly

It is very important that you keep your skin moisturised when the weather is hot. This would help keep your skin fresh and protect it from dryness and irritation. You would have to switch to a light moisturiser, as the regular kind tends to block the pores when the weather is hot.

2. Wash Your Face Regularly

Washing your face with water and a mild face cleanser or soap can do a lot of good when the weather is hot. You can do this in the morning when you wake and at night before you sleep. You can also wash your face when you come in from the hot outdoors. Washing your face would help to remove dust, sweat, and other impurities that could clog the pores on your face and lead to a breakout.

3. Wear Sunscreen When Going Out

There is no excuse why you should not wear sunscreen when going out while the weather is hot. Sunscreen would protect your skin from sunburn and ultraviolet rays. That way, your skin can have an even tone and look fresh. Cover every part of your body with sunscreen, including your feet, ears, hands, back, and everywhere else.

When buying sunscreen, make sure to go for one that has SPF 30 or higher, for proper protection. Sunscreen should be applied just before you go out and should be reapplied if you are spending a long time under the sun.

4. Protect Your Skin From The Sun

If you don’t have sunscreen on, try to expose as little of your body as possible to direct sunlight. For example, you can sit underneath an umbrella, stay under a shade, wear a hat, or avoid the midday sun.

5. Exfoliate Regularly

When the weather is hot, it would help you if you can exfoliate as often as you can. Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells, which makes it easier to moisturise and protect your skin. Another important product to have for your skin during the hot weather is vitamin C serum. Vitamin C helps helps with collagen production, prevents hyperpigmentation, and boosts the appearance of fine lines.

6. Always Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated would not only quench your thirst but would help your skin retain moisture as well. Because your body loses a lot of moisture when the weather is hot, staying hydrated would make sure that your body always has water.

You can opt for water or choose to eat hydrating fruits like watermelon and cucumber.

Limit your intake of carbonated drinks as it would make you thirst quicker.

7. Cut Your Shower Time

Unless you have a source that supplied you directly with very cold water, you should cut your shower time when the weather is hot. Staying longer in the shower, with warm or hot water pouring on your, would not benefit your skin in any way. Spending 4 – 5 minutes in the shower would do your skin a whole lot of good than you think.

8. Put On Powder To Prevent Heat Rash

Heat rash is one of the most common skin diseases that happens during hot weathers. This skin condition is caused by blocked sweat ducts, and trapped sweat beneath the skin. It can happen to adults, but most especially children. Using a cooling powder after showering, especially in areas where there is excessive perspiration can give an instant cooling relief from heat rash, itching and burning.

Furthermore, avoid wearing tight clothes so that you skin can get air.
